Kearney Township Board Meeting Minutes
November 2, 2015
Meeting called to order at 7:pm.
Pledge of allegiance.
Roll call : present- Niepoth, Fleet, Kotz, Hagood and Petrie. Absent- 0.
No conflict of interest was noted.
Motion by Hagood supported by Fleet to approve the agenda as presented, carried.
Motion by Fleet supported by Niepoth to approve last month’s minutes as presented, carried.
Motion by Hagood supported by Niepoth to pay the bills as presented, carried.
Public comment: Register of Deeds Patti Niepoth spoke on the new property fraud alert system. The system
is available to e-file deeds and protect your property. There is no fee to subscribe at
Motion by Niepoth supported by Hagood to adopt the Blight Elimination Ordinance (Ordinance #2 of 2015).
Roll call vote: Yes- Niepoth, Fleet, Kotz, Hagood and Petrie. No-0. Carried.
Motion by Kotz supported by Petrie to oppose the County’s proposal to put a surcharge on taxpayer’s bills to
support recycling in the county, carried.
Thomas Welch was present to ask the Township to commit to improving Stover Dam Road in the near future
because of his development property. The board is sympathetic, but cannot promise anything at this time.
Motion by Fleet supported by Hagood to approve the fireworks permit for Wolverine Fireworks to put on a show
at Shanty Creek on New Year’s 2016, carried.
Motion by Hagood supported by Niepoth to accept the proposal from Giar Excavating to plow the parking lot at
a rate of $35.00 for half of the lot and $65.00 for all of the lot, carried.
The Treasurer asked if we wanted to transfer some of the General Fund monies into a money market fund to
get more interest. The board agreed with that proposal and told her to go ahead.
Motion by Niepoth supported by Fleet to have our three furnaces checked out by a contractor, carried.
