Kearney Township Board Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2013
Meeting called to order at 7:00pm.
Pledge of allegiance.
Roll call: present- Niepoth, Fleet, Kotz, Hagood, Petrie. Absent-0,
No conflict of interest was noted.
Motion by Fleet supported by Hagood to approve the agenda with the addition of
“progress with outdoor lighting” and “approval for the Treasurer to attend the MTA Conference in January” carried.
Motion by Hagood supported by Kotz to approve payment of the bills as presented, carried.
Motion by Fleet supported by Hagood to accept the proposal from Abonmarche to perform Task #3 which is lot and block monumenting for $1,700 at the Flewelling Cemetery, carried.
The tree clearing at the Brydon Cemetery is not completed yet due to weather conditions.
The driveway widening will not be done this year because the contractor could not get to it this year. We will try again in the spring.
The outdoor lighting on the hall building has not yet been completed.
The board got a report on fire department issues from Chief Joe Baker and the fire board
representatives for Kearney were also present to answer any questions.
Motion by Niepoth supported by Fleet to object to transfer of tax foreclosed properties in the township to the Township. Roll call vote- yes- Niepoth, Fleet, Kotz, Hagood, Petrie.No-0, motion for denial carried.
Acknowledgment of receipt and acceptance of lease payment from OIL for gas lease.
Motion by Petrie supported by Fleet to approve the proposal from KCI to process and send out the tax bills for December at a cost of $1,738.43 which is less than it would be to use the county which is $1,966.23 carried.
Motion by Niepoth supported by Fleet to adopt Ordinance # 3 of 2013 (Anti-Blight and Nuisance Ordinance). Roll call vote- yes- Niepoth, Fleet Kotz, Hagood, Petrie. No-0. Motion carried.
Motion by Fleet supported by Hagood to approve the proposal from Lautner Irrigation
to install a water treatment system that will eliminate the sulfur in the water and soften the water for $4,247.19, carried.
Motion by Fleet supported by Petrie to approve cost to send the Treasurer to the Annual MTA Conference in Traverse City with two nights lodging, carried.
Officers gave written reports.
Correspondence - the Supervisor received an inquiry about building a boardwalk over a creek in a Commercial Forest Reserve.
